why am I seeing life in a blur?

part i.
Character name: Alex Atalay
Fandom: WoD-ish, OC
Species: Human
Character powers: There are times when his "gift" or sixth sense makes him an asset--Alex can sense impending trouble or danger, foreboding. It's on the order of psychic ability in that he's capable of reading the vibes in a room, of a person and in a situation. Good vibes, bad vibes...he picks up on it. The next best thing to actually being able to "see" the future. (If this is good or bad is really debatable but Alex tries to look at it as a positive thing)

Likewise, he can sometimes pick up on latent activities that have already occurred in a building or location. If something bad, as in heinously terrible (murder, rape, extensive abuse) took place in a room, it would likely make the hairs on the back of his neck stand up and cause him to feel grossly uncomfortable. The length of time passed or the amount of the victims distress can sometimes cause the level of his sensitivity to vary. Particularly disturbing events could make him nauseous, for instance, even make him throw up. Conversely, if something joyous took place in a given area, it's possible that Alex would wind up stifling a case of the giggles or feeling his own mood on an upwardly pleasant swing.

TL;DR: Alex has a Spidey Sense with a hair trigger.

part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion? Due to his sixth sense, he can generally read someone's intent be it good or bad so it's hard to dupe him in that regard. I won't say impossible because he's young, a bit naive and wants to believe most people are good, but he'd have to be fairly well distracted for anyone to successfully make this work. Unless magic of some sort is involved. He is a (fairly) ordinary human and therefore, vulnerable.

2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain. His mind can be read but I'd like a warning OOC first if it's for plot purposes. Anything he 'thinks' in narrative is pretty well fair game however. The most traumatic memories he'll likely have are actually impressions and feelings gleaned from other people and locations thanks to his abilities. Alex himself hasn't had many huge traumas in his life.

3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up? Yes.

4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours? This is entirely situational. Alex is somewhere on the empath scale himself and what he picks up on are emotions that have, for lack of a better term, been trapped in locations. Unless they are a skilled empath, they might have trouble sussing out Alex's actual feelings and the emotions he's picking up from places and people around him.

5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned? I'm game for just about anything if it's useful for plot purposes.

part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos? He has pretty hair. Beyond that, Alex is tall and a bit lanky but not scrawny. He's not particularly threatening.

2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses? No.

3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability. He is human but it could be argued that his empathic abilities means that there's something a little different in terms of how much of his brain is used--slightly higher percentage of function than the average human. Chemical balances might be skewed as well.

4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly? Actions have consequences, so where it's logical that he'd get hurt, he will. If a vampire wants to use him as a Capri Sun, it would be very much against his will but I can't say it'd never happen. OOC communication prior to such shenanigans, please.

5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry? Sure, why not?

part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all? He's non-threatening, pretty mellow and laid back. His aura might look a little jumbled and confused to someone who doesn't realize that Alex has empathic abilities. There's Alex and then there's Things Alex Soaks Up hovering around the edges.

2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses? Yes.

3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)? Probably; the compulsion is there but Alex would also be aware of the other person's intent so he's not so easily compelled to actually follow through as some others might be.

4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event? Vanity is the easiest one to appeal to with Alex. Attention from someone (or something appearing to be someone) he is highly attracted to...perhaps.

5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot? Sure.

part v.
1.) Is canon-puncturing or fourth-walling acceptable? We encourage people to tread extremely lightly with allowing their character to learn they are fictional. Since he's really a non-fandom OC, this isn't much of an issue.

2. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances? Sure, as long as it's not a constant deluge of comment spam. If it's fostering CR with some characters or advancing a plot, go for it.

3. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced? N/A

4. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)? No, but if they venture into those topics Alex would personally find troubling or offensive, he's not above saying something to that effect and it can and will alter CR accordingly.

5. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey? Nope.

Traffic jam. They were at a dead stop, no wait...a slow crawl. No, dead stop. The car was idling in the parking lot that the 405 became at a moment's notice. He wasn't sure if it was more frustrating to be a passenger in this situation or if he'd have rather been the one driving. As soon as his mother reached over and turned up the stereo, the dated and cheese-ball sounds of Neil Sedaka filling the small car, he had his answer.

He also had his football between his hands.

I love, I love, I love my calender girl

Thud, thud, thudthudthud. It was rather therapeutic to lean forward and thump his brow against the smooth leather surface of the ball. Thud. In time to the simple rhythm of the song, even. He had a test to study for, he had script to go over (so what if it was only two lines out of forty pages? Those were his two lines and he was going to own them) and he had a million other things to do that were better than sitting in the back seat of his mother's car listening to Neil carry on about some girl's life he'd logged in his Daytimer. Did they even have those in the fifties? Sixties? Whatever. Get me out of here. Alex wanted to be anywhere but there. Anywhere.

Each and every day of the --

Year. Where'd the year go? He lifted his head and started to ask why his mother had turned off one of her favorite songs when he became aware of the fact that he could no longer feel the rattle and hum of the car's engine either. Nor was he sitting on a vinyl car seat. His mother was gone, the traffic, L.A. and in their places was a wall of green tile. A lot of green tile. Four walls. Alex blinked, looked around and then looked down at the ball in his hands.

"Ciddimisin?!" His disbelieving exclamation could be loosely translated from Turkish into English as 'seriously?!' which he did just a moment later, "Seriously?"

How's my driving, so to speak? Questions, comments, concerns...leave them all here. I genuinely want to know how I'm doing with this character in terms of voice and interaction. Good, bad, why in God's name are you playing here?! Let me know.
